FreeWheel 2009 Day 0: Red River to Duncan
FreeWheel is off to a great start in southwestern Oklahoma. Duncan is a nice town, very hospitable. Although there aren't a lot of restaurant choices. We were about to settle for Mazzios, when Paul spotted Napoli's. I wasn't familiar with it, but he was very enthused, so we stopped. It was excellent!
We started riding a little late, but we weren't too worried about it, since the ride was only 35 miles long. But it was hot, about 91 degrees. There was a still southeast wind, which carried us along most of the way, but for several miles we were headed straight east, and had a partial headwind. We had to stop in the tiny town of Oliver to fill our water bottles with ice, and we got back to Duncan and into the locker room just in time to hit the showers, before the line got really long. Score!
For some reason, my blog is being contrary tonight, and I'm really tired. So I will try to post today's photos on Facebook, and post pictures here tomorrow.
In the meantime, here are the stats, and a Garmin map, from today's spin: http://connect.garmin.com/player/6588916

I'm seriously looking at doing freewheel next year, so I'm excited about your posts.
Also, Napoli's is great. There is one in Broken Arrow at 81st and 145th(Aspen).
